Documentation request and other wishes

Wow congratulations with Coccinella!! 8)
I discovered it yesterday and am really impressed with the whiteboard, and the beautiful functionality in general.
How come I've _never_ heard about it before? This project needs more media attention (and then bought at a stellar price by Google :p )

Anyway there are -I guess- some undocumented functions that I've not been able to get working:

Whiteboard documentation:

* I suppose that it is possible to edit the control points after creating a shape, but how? I've been able to select control points individually, but not to move them

General transport documentation, but I found out how to get it working.

Is it possible to minimize to system tray in Windows?

Whiteboard wishes:

* Workflow: Single-key shortcuts (Adobe-like?): V for select, B for brush, ...

* Workflow: Easier moving around of objects (including scaling and rotation), options:
   - selection tool initiates drag when mouse down on selected object, and/or
   - middle mouse button drags as well, and/or
   - selection tool + modifier, i.e. Ctrl, to move/scale/rotate objects (again see photoshop, illustrator and other paint programs)

* Esc closes the whiteboard without asking to save changes? (or only when not in a meeting, but even then?)

* Anti-aliasing would make this oh so beautiful ;)

Thanks for the great program, this will make my long-distance life so much better ;)
Cheers

Yes, Mats did a great job!

WIP, stay tuned! ;-) Oh yes, and there has been an article about Coccinella on linux.com.

General transport documentation, but I found out how to get it working.

Video and text tutorials in my TODO list

Is it possible to minimize to system tray in Windows?

I think so, but I don't know for sure.

Have been unable to discover the minimize to system tray, would be really cool though.

So is it possible to edit the control points after creating a shape?

What about the other wishes? Single key shortcuts speed up things _a lot_, to the point that other options will be unnecessary at the moment; and I would really like to see this implemented (possibly as an option).
Just look at programs as sketchup, 3ds max, the adobe family, ... (yes i have a graphical/architectural background :p )
Please?

TIA

Do you mean Coccinella should be minimized at startup like Cliff wants do do?: https://thecoccinella.org/node/98

In the new Coccinella release, I added some more short cuts to the menus (underlined characters).

Regarding the Adobe shortcuts, I don't have access to Adobe and I guess Mats also don't. So, can you file an entry to the new bug tracker in which you point out which button should be mapped with which key. Also describe how it will work and why the feature is useful (e.g.: people using Adobe will be able to start with Coccinella in no time):
https://bugs.launchpad.net/coccinella/+filebug

Of course, that does not mean, the next version of Coccinella will have this feature, but at least it increases the likelihood ;-)

Just look at programs as sketchup, 3ds max, the adobe family, ... (yes i have a graphical/architectural background :p ) Please?

No experience here...maybe you can contribute your experience by filing a bug entry as I described? ;-)

The complete whiteboard and its graphics will be rewritten to use a more standard protocol (SVG) and much improved graphics libs, see tkpath at http://tclbitprint.sourceforge.net/ and shots http://tclbitprint.sourceforge.net/tkpath/quartz/index.html

Mats

Sweet :)
I see Tkpath supports the 3D accelerated Cairo library (in comparison with GTK+ on Windows, which is not accelerated). Will that be the backend of choice? I know Mozilla is switching to this multi-platform library with the upcoming Firefox 3.0..!

Will we be able to try out alpha/beta-test versions anytime soon? (Well, take your time :p )
Thanks for the continuing improvements!

[ For reference: "The largest change for Firefox 3 is the implementation of Gecko 1.9, an updated layout engine which uses cairo as a graphics backend, allowing for improved graphics performance and better consistency of look and feel on various operating systems." (wikipedia on Mozilla Firefox) ]

You can download the development verion from CVS (see development section), and then execute Coccinella from CVS in this ay: https://thecoccinella.org/node/84
