Import document in the whiteboard

Hi,

I tried to import documents in the whiteboard to work on them with somebody else. Whatever the documents (I tried mp3, ppt, and bmp), it only opened something on my side and nothing happened on the other side (documents weren't visible at all as if nothing happened on my recipient side).

How can I solve this problem ?

Thank you,
Francois

Forum:

Currently the whiteboard file transfers don't handle NAT/firewalls at all. I have done some preparation to solve this by implementing support for a proxy which is now common on jabber servers, but it remains to switch to the so called bytestreams protocol, and there is currently no protocol for using automatic file transfers without user interaction. If you want to experiment you could try using port forwarding in your NAT or open a port in your firewall, but I wont recommend it.

Damn I just read this.. this is not-so-good news :s
Which port is the whiteboard file transfer using, the file transfer port under network - servers (8237)?
Well I suppose so, so I probably solved my own question :p

OK thx for the notification about this.

Note that whiteboarding is currently being worked on by the XSF (XMPP Standards Foundation). So, maybe this protocol can be made more NAT-friendly. But of course: first there needs to be a XEP (XMPP Enhancement Protocol) for whiteboarding, and second, Coccinella needs to switch to this protocol. All these can take some time, but not necessarily :-)

Hey Sander bedankt for the heads up :p

Now tracked in the new bug tracker:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/coccinella/+bug/141365

This is now fixed while running in SVG mode (https://thecoccinella.org/node/103). There will be a blog about this. The current whiteboard protocol is marked EOL so no fix for that.

Thanks for that nice tool,
but can anybody say me, when this BUGFIX is implemented on a installable version?
I will load a JPG in whiteboard an draw on it, but my chat buddy cant see the picture, only the lines i've drawed.
Thanks
